Niet mijn schuld
Niet Mijn Schuld sheds light on the personal struggle of individuals like Willemijn (24), who lives in Bristol (England) and is unable to work full-time due to health reasons, leaving her living below the poverty line with a sky-high debt of over 90,000 euros. The film also shows the story of Pascal (35), a theatre maker in Vaqueros (Argentina), for whom a valid identity document is of vital importance due to his medical needs. In addition, an anonymous former student from Curaçao shares his experiences, where a single administrative error resulted in a flood of reminders and even the arrival of a bailiff, despite years of proper repayment. The documentary aims to raise awareness about the psychological and societal consequences of high student debt and encourages young people to think about the financial aspects of studying and borrowing from DUO.
