Mama Lihat Awan Jatuh
Mama Laurensia Yame, an Awyu woman, paddles along the Digul River while recollecting her past life. Along the riverbank, the voices of children fill the air, echoing through a landscape poised on the brink of change. As corporations move to claim land occupied for thousands of years, from the time of their ancestors, the distant strains of Mama Lihat Awan Jatuh sound a heart lending lament, ‘we, the Awyus, don’t know where to go’.
