Creation Myth

To create the tree sequences in this video, Allen used a custom software based on fractal mathematics. This gave form both to the tree and to the sequence of movements. It is one of the earliest animated generative artworks where an algorithm imitates organic growth. the video follows different stages of a creation myth, from particles of energy and light to animal and plant life. It was one of a series of artist commissions made for the opening night of the New York nightclub Palladium.
