The Sound From A Silent Town

Famous for its spectacular Beehive Fireworks Festival, Yanshui in Tainan attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, yet falls silent once the celebrations end. Amid population decline, aging residents, and abandoned houses, returning young artists seek to revive the town through the Yuejin Lantern Festival, blending contemporary art with traditional festivities. However, generational tensions complicate their efforts. Reflecting broader challenges facing Taiwan under globalization and demographic change, the documentary explores whether cultural revitalization can sustain a declining community, suggesting that its future may emerge through ongoing experimentation, conflict, and dialogue between generations.
